​​Justin Deegan is a visionary Indigenous filmmaker and the founder of Thunder Revolution Studio, LLC, a production company grounded in the powerful ethos: “An Indigenous Lens For An Indigenous Narrative.” Proudly of Arikara, Oglala Lakota, and Hunkpapa Lakota heritage, Justin brings ancestral knowledge, cultural responsibility, and a deep personal connection to every story he tells.

 

A skilled and multifaceted creative, Justin is an accomplished director, director of photography, producer, film editor, drone operator, audio engineer, and film photographer, whose work spans both narrative and documentary film. With a cinematic eye and a strong commitment to authentic Indigenous representation, he crafts stories that uplift Native voices while challenging colonial narratives—creating films that are as visually compelling as they are culturally significant.

 

Justin’s work has led to high-profile collaborations with major global brands and artists including Louis Vuitton, Pharrell Williams, adidas, and Nike N7, where he has helped bring Indigenous culture and creative vision to international platforms.

 

In film and television, Justin has contributed his talents as a camera and drone operator for the acclaimed documentary series Vow of Silence (now streaming on Hulu), and as a camera operator on the powerful film The Aunties. He also worked on projects such as Vice’s RISE and John Legend’s Love Me Now music video, bridging Native presence with mainstream media through his behind-the-camera expertise.

 

His independent filmmaking includes directing impactful works like Another Scar of Genocide—a documentary focused on diabetes prevention and awareness in the Native American community, highlighting the urgent health disparities faced by Indigenous peoples and the cultural solutions being reclaimed to combat them. As an audio engineer, Justin ensures that every story resonates both sonically and emotionally, delivering technically polished and immersive experiences.
