Alek Roslik
Alek Roslik has been working in varied media for 20 years. His career started in two different but related avenues in media before merging together. Having gotten a degree in sound engineering and production, his early work saw him following his passion of recording musicians, while dabbling in sound editing, music composition for visual media, podcasts, sweetening, and even a bit of forensic audio work. At the same time, he was invited to take part in independent documentaries, comedy recordings, public television segments, and more, as a producer. With an ear for high quality sound and a taste for film production, he eventually found himself managing the location sound in just about any setting where sound and visual media converge. As a production sound mixer and location recordist, he has done hundreds of episodes of television, several feature narrative films, countless commercials and corporate videos, and perhaps most happily, many documentaries.
He has continued to stay connected to the production side of his career, producing independent documentaries, comedy specials and album recordings, comedy festival videos in Mexico, video segments for commercials, and even a red carpet event for the Superbowl in Minneapolis.
Armed with strong technical knowledge and an abiding interest in what makes people do what they do, he has been able to add his curiosity and expertise to projects for Netflix, Anonymous Content, Jigsaw productions, PBS, Vox, VICE, and many more.
He has been fortunate to work on several projects in support of indigenous voices. Of note; A PBS documentary about influential doctor and author Charles Eastman, A PBS doc featuring ND State Representative Ruth Buffalo, multiple doc segments showing Native-American food ways, documentaries with water protectors and environmental advocates, and currently producing on a documentary about the people of the Marshall Islands efforts to preserve their culture amidst growing global issues.
