Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Blackbird is a 5X Native American Music Award Winning Band that fuses Native American flute and contemporary rock into a genre they self classify as "Alter-Native" Rock. Co-Founded by Cody Blackbird the first ever Native American Flutist to be featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, Blackbird has shared the bill with such artists as The Black Eyed Peas, John Trudell, Buffy St. Marie, Jewell, Jason Mraz and many others. The band's first two studio albums were produced by Kenny Lee Lewis of The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inducted Steve Miller Band. Their most recent single "Backup" features fellow Alaskans, GRAMMY Award Winners Portugal. The Man and famed Native fiddle player Sage Cornelius. Through their lyricism, and musical platform, Blackbird strives to share the importance of finding purpose and keeping Indigenous culture alive through the arts.
