Indigenous Performance Productions was started in 2019 to expand on the tour booking and management work that was migrated from Walrus Arts Management.
Mission Statement: To produce, promote, present, manage and advance education around Indigenous performing arts and artists.
Vision Statement: to create equity and opportunity for Indigenous performing artists by providing opportunity to amplify stories through live performances.
Andre Bouchard (of Kootenai/Ojibwe/Pend d’Oreille/Salish descent) is an agent, director and producer who was born and raised on the Flathead Reservation in western Montana the son a CSKT enrolled father. As a person with a background in both Native and non-native worlds Andre aspires to serve as an inter-cultural activist, working to build bridges and reverse the invisibility that serves to marginalize Native people in the US. In 2001 he founded Walrus Performance Productions and the Walrus Theater, a non-profit dedicated to providing first opportunities to dance, music and theater artists in the Salish Sea area. In 2010 he founded Walrus Arts Management and Consulting which was expanded in 2016 to serve as a home to the first Native run performing arts booking agency representing Indigenous dance, theatre, music and multi-disciplinary artists . In 2019 he founded Indigenous Performance Productions, a non-profit company dedicated to production of touring Indigenous performing arts festivals.
Andre is an Association of Performing Arts Professionals/University of Southern California Arts Leadership Fellow, holds a Master's in Arts Management from the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University and a BFA in Dance and BA in Anthropology from the University of Montana. He serves on the Washington State Arts Commission, the Board of Arts NW, and Conference Committees for APAP and WAA.
